Lavender goat milk soap

What you may not know about soap!

What you may not know about soap!

One of the products we specialize in here at Branru Farm is goat milk soap, which is a natural type of soap. We love using natural soaps and other natural products to support our skin health. In order to explain why, we first need to tell you a few things you probably didn't know about soap.

What is Soap?

As humans, we use certain products on a daily basis without thinking about them much. For example, you use soap or soap-like products daily, but have you ever asked yourself what it is exactly? Well, there are a lot of different kinds of soaps and cleansers on the market. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a soap consists of “alkali salts of fatty acids,” but it's not quite that simple. Sometimes what we think of as soaps contain other products, too. Those products aren't always safe or great for skin health.

When is a Soap Not a Soap?

Another problem is that sometimes soaps are true soaps and sometimes they aren't. True soaps go through a chemical process called saponification. Regulations put forth by the FDA prevent many commercial soap producers from even putting the word “soap” on their products that do not undergo that process. Instead, they have to use buzz words to describe their chemical-filled cleansing agents like “bath bar” and “beauty bar,” but such items are still sold in the soap aisles of stores. That can be quite confusing, and it is sometimes even potentially hazardous for consumers.

What Are Some Potential Commercial Soap Problems?

Many commercial cleansers, whether actually soaps or more in the “detergent” or “cleanser” categories, come with a whole host of potential problems. The first is that they tend to contain a lot of unfamiliar ingredients. It's worth noting that not all of those ingredients are harmful, but many are. Regardless, all of them are usually chemicals with names impossible to pronounce that we as consumers know nothing about. It's always much better when you know exactly what you are applying to your body, which is why goat milk soap is a great alternative. Here are some other potential problems commercial "soaps" can cause:

 Dry Skin Caused by the Removal of Glycerin or Addition of Other Harmful Ingredients

 Allergic Reactions

 Complications of Existing Skin Conditions Like Acne

 Stripping Away of Natural Skin Oils Causing Skin Damage

 Inflammation and Rashes (Contact Dermatitis)

Not every commercial cleanser on the market is a skincare nightmare. Some are definitely worse than others. However, if you are a person who already struggles with dry skin or other skin conditions, commercial "soaps" are only likely to make matters worse. Natural soaps are much more likely to improve your skin health.

Does “Natural Soap” Always Mean Good Soap?

Our Branru Farm soaps are made with skin health in mind. Goat milk is a great ingredient to use to make natural soap because it produces a soap that feels smooth and silky. It also contains skin fortifying ingredients that encourage moisture retention and collagen production in skin cells. Additionally, goat milk soap is quite mild compared to its commercial counterparts, which means it's unlikely to ever cause inflammation, allergic reactions, or worsening of acne and similar skin conditions. In fact, it soothes the skin.

With all that said, whenever you are buying any type of skincare product, we recommend you remember that “natural” does not automatically mean good for you. Many companies use the word “natural” on their products to reel in customers, but the natural components they use are still unhealthy. That's why you need to still know what the ingredients actually are and what their effects on your body are likely to be. Goat milk is both natural and good for your body, which is why we love it.

Is There Any Other Reason to Choose Goat Milk Soap?

There are, in fact, lots of other reasons to choose goat milk soap. One is that it is antimicrobial. That means it can help reduce the chance of skin infections and heal minor existing infections. It also provides vital vitamins and nutrients to your skin. Those include vitamins A, C, D, and E, as well as several B vitamins. Another good reason to try our goat milk soap for better skin health is that you can select different scents to use for aromatherapy, such as lilac. So give our goat milk soap a try today. We know you'll love it!
